Alex Mohseni, MD FACEP, is a board certified Emergency Medicine physician who graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2006. He subsequently joined a large regional EM group in the Washington DC area, where as the Chief Innovation Officer he helped develop new solutions to help optimize his practice's management of its 700+ employees and 1,000,000+ annual patient encounters. He also built out the practice's telemedicine division, Sky Physicians, became the President of that division, and successfully negotiated a contract with a large local Medicaid Managed Care Organization, launching a population-health focused telemedicine program serving the MCO's 200,000+ Medicaid patients. After the successful sale of the practice to a private equity backed firm, he joined CirrusMD, a national B2B telemedicine company serving many of the nation's biggest payers, as a Medical Director and was placed in charge of Product Utilization. He helped with product design, growth strategy, building out a national team of telemedicine clinicians (recruitment, credentialing, licensing, quality), data analytics, and sales. Alex is licensed in 50 states (and DC). He spent one year as the Medical Director for a Remote Patient Monitoring company, Accuhealth, and is now a National Medical Director with the Care Transformation team at Optum. Alex writes about the nexus of technology, medicine, and the payer space and enjoys running, cooking and chess.
